RIO VISTA

Had the opportunity to tour the proposed Rio Vista project that encompasses roughly 900 acres. We were discussing potential educational institution opportunities among other potential uses within the amended EIR we approved a few months back. More to come...

Louis Rubidoux Parkland and Pecan Grove

‼️ Important Schedule Change‼️

Please note that we will no longer be hosting Second Saturdays at the Louis Robidoux Parkland & Pecan Grove. In an effort to reach as many LRPPG Community Members as possible and allow you to join in or view work being done at the site, we are switching things up! Please join IERCD staff and partners at the Louis Robidoux Parkland & Pecan Grove each third Thursday of the month, from 12 PM - 5 PM. Stop by for a chat, ask some questions, grab some free snacks, and join us in site project work and development! We can't wait to see you there 🤩

A little over a year ago we, as did many other cities, received CDBG CV one time distributions to aid with COVID-19 impacts. We created two programs which were the Rental Assistance Program and LEAP. Each program has provided much needed assistance to those who applied and qualified by helping keep residents in their homes and businesses with payroll and more. We are reallocating some of the unused funds in our Rental Assistance Program to the LEAP program which is expected to assist an additional 20+ local small businesses. We are also allocating a portion of the funds to invest in our newly approved Food Bank which will help our residents experiencing food insecurity. Stay tuned for when LEAP opens up for applications.

As you may have already heard, Sprouts, Harbor Freight, and Dave's Appliance Warehouse have signed leases to go into the only Kmart building on Limonite with a tentative opening date of October 2022. Additional retailers are currently in negotiations and once leases are signed we'll be sure to share.

In addition, there is currently a proposed Tractor Supply with two drive thru restaurants at the corner of Armstrong and Sierra coming before the Planning Commission this week.

As I've shared over the past few weeks, we have much more in the pipeline.

infrastructure

Ever wondered which roads have been repaired and which ones are scheduled for repair in our City? You can view all that information at the following link:

https://www.jurupavalley.org/.../Capital-Improvement-Plan...

Each year, during our public budget hearings we review available funds and approve the next set of projects on our CIP list.

Some current projects to note that have received funding are:

- Pacific Ave Road and Bicycle Lane rehabilitation between 42bd and Mission.

- Limonite between Felspar and Pedley

- Traffic Signal light at Jurupa and Pedley

- Mission phase 1 between Valley Way and Pyrite

Visit the link above for a full list of projects. I've asked staff to work on creating a more user friendly map by introducing interactivity through a GIS map instead of a flat file. More to come.

council business/community news

My family and I had a great time at yesterday's Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District Snow Day! The Jurupa District Lions Club #2659 provided a free breakfast and beverages to all attendees! Jurupa Pony and @healthy_mission_nutrition were giving out samples, information, and swag. Great to see the community out with their families enjoying a fun packed Saturday morning at one of our local parks!

It was a fun packed weekend of watching and supporting our Jurupa AYSO Region 462 teams and their families participate in the Pony Express tournament with our U10 boys taking 2nd place in their flight! Thanks to Mayor Wes Speake for his support and helping hand out the medals to our team! We also had a chance to discuss opportunities to work more closely together on regional goals that we share as cities. Go Jurupa!

Our Interagency Coordinating Council meetings occur every other month and are extremely valuable to provide high level coordination on development across our City between all government agencies. At our most recent meeting we had CalFire, Riverside County Sheriff's Department, RCSD, JCSD, JUSD, JARPD, and City Staff. These meetings are open to the public.

FYI... all agencies are hiring especially CalFire, Sheriff's, and JUSD. You can contact the respective agency if interested.

Had numerous meetings this past month with developers, land owners, and/or City staff. As a quick reminder, we have over 2k acres in some type of process consisting of over 4k homes of all affordability levels, 250+ acres of retail/commercial, some light industrial such as manufacturing and business parks, open space, and much more.

Some projects of note as part of this month’s meetings:

- Potential changes to the Wineville Marketplace

- Progress update on the District at Jurupa Valley

- Van Buren Marketplace set to break ground in April. Tenants to be announced once leases are signed.

- Progress update on The Shops at Jurupa Valley. Working with developer to get ETA on start of construction.

- Potential tenants for the old KMart.

- Discussions to work with owners of the old Albertsons to allow Albertsons to be released from their long term lease to allow for new tenants. The now approved Appaloosa Springs housing community is definitely helping with new tenant attraction.
