Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and trade schools are vital pathways to upward mobility that must be available to our communities. I'm extremely appreciative of the collaboration this past year between the Inland Empire Labor Council, Riverside City College, City of Jurupa Valley, Congressman Mark Takano, Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes, Jurupa Unified School District, and more, working collectively to bring those opportunities to Jurupa Valley and the Inland Empire as a whole.

While there is much work to be done to bring these opportunities to fruition, I am confident that this team will do everything in our power to do so. I'll be sharing updates as they become available.

The Jurupa Valley City Council recently approved the “Appaloosa Springs” project, which subdivides 67.7 acres into 254 single family lots.

The project is located at 6501 Clay St., south of Limonite Avenue, and will include various community benefits such as parks, open space, multi-purpose trails connecting to the Santa Ana River, and construction jobs.

This exciting project will redevelop a vacant, blighted property, increase the City’s housing stock, and allow for new residents to support our existing and future commercial businesses.

Construction is expected to begin late Fall 2022 with estimated completion in Spring 2023. For additional information, please visit the City’s website (http://ow.ly/bI3350GYKrh) or contact the Jurupa Valley Community Development Department at (951) 332-6464.

The City recently purchased a building from the County of Riverside to accommodate growing field crew staff, city vehicles, equipment, and other supplies to better serve the community.

Councilmember Silva and his family cooked delicious tacos and quesadillas for staff in celebration. Thank you Guillermo "Willy" Silva - Jurupa Valley City Council Member and family!

council business/community news

Open communication is key in avoiding duplication among agencies and discovering synergies between us. That's why I highly value our Interagency Coordination Council meetings.

The next one will be held on January 28th at Fire Station #38 in Rubidoux. These are open to the public. #jurupavalley #transparency

At our most recent Western Riverside Council of Governments Executive Committee meeting we approved various updates to our by laws and our JPA. These changes were long overdue. We now move on to the creation of our Specific Plan. #jurupavalley #transparency #localgovernment

Had a great time with the family at #JARPD Market Nights! Alot of great food trucks and vendors. It's good to see how well these events are being attended by our residents as all parking spots were filled and then some. Looking forward to seeing this monthly event continue to grow. Hope to see you at the next one. #jurupavalley #marketnights

We made great progress on the WRCOG strategic plan! This document will guide the organization over the next three to five years and beyond on common goals between its member agencies that will directly benefit all our residents. #jurupavalley
